Trichocereus ‘HB04’ (cactus)

5.0 (1 review)

$24.95

Description

Trichocereus are nocturnally blooming South American cacti. Many have been used traditionally for divining purposes, including T. pachanoi and T. bridgesii. Hybridisation occurs readily as individuals do not, or very rarely, self-pollinate. An upright species to 6 metres tall.

The HB04 clone is a Herbalistics selection from a batch of hybrid seed from the USA, T. pachanoi x T. bridgesii. Quite possibly the quickest Trichocereus I have seen, putting on height rapidly in most situations. Tall and narrow like T. bridgesii but with short spines like T. pachanoi. Good disease resistance in the subtropics.

Care and Cultivation of Trichocereus HB04

Keep in part-shade until large enough to deal with full-sun, which will depend on the increasing exposure you give the cactus. Once established, Trichocereus species can be watered most of the year in all climates, although they will cease to grow or slow right down over winter in colder areas. Fertilise regularly with fish emulsion/seaweed at half strength over the growing season.

1 cutting (100-150mm length, mid or tip depending on availability)
