Description

Sterculia quadrifida is a native Australian species up to 20m tall, occurring mostly in or near rainforest along the coast of NSW, QLD and NT.

Sterculia quadrifida seeds are edible either raw or roasted and have a taste that is very similar to peanuts. The seeds may even be better roasted than raw. Can also be trained as a succulent bonsai due to the large tuber it develops from an early age.

Care and Cultivation of Sterculia quadrifida

Sterculia quadrifida is a drought tolerant, beautiful and hardy species suitable for most gardens. Likes a full sun position in a well drained soil. Deciduous in most areas. Can be kept as a succulent bonsai.
