Trichocereus ‘HB08’ (cactus)

5.0 (2 reviews)

$24.95

Description

Trichocereus are South American cacti with many being used traditionally for divining purposes. Hybridisation occurs readily as individuals do not or very rarely self-pollinate. An upright species to 6 metres tall.

HB08 (formerly called BBB, or Bli Bli Behemoth, but there’s so many other cacti clones with this name we changed it) is a Herbalistics selection, from a batch of T. scopulicola x T. bridgesii (Psycho0) seedlings. It has an impressive girth, a tendency to have monstrous growth and excellent resistance to skin disorders in the subtropics. In fact, if there was only one Trichocereus I grew, or could take with me to a new garden, this would be it. It will make an excellent parent due to its resistance to orange spotting in the humid climates.

Care and Cultivation of Trichocereus ‘HB08’

Keep in part-shade until large enough to deal with full-sun, which will depend on the increasing exposure you give the cactus. Once established, Trichocereus species can be watered most of the year in all climates, although they will cease to grow or slow right down over winter in colder areas. Fertilise regularly with fish emulsion/seaweed at half strength over the growing season.
