Mitragyna diversifolia – Kra Thum Na (plant)

Description

Mitragyna diversifolia (syn. Mitragyna javanica) is a member of the Rubiaceae family and its native range is Bangladesh to China (Yunnan) and Malesia. (Laos, Vietnam,Thailand, Burma Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Cambodia). Used traditionally as an alternative to Kratom in it native range but is legal within Australia and does not contain mitragynine. M. diversifolia instead contains mitrajavine, ajmalicine and 3-isoajmalicin.

Care and Cultivation of Mitragyna diversifolia

A tall tree in habitat but will be smaller under open growing conditions. Grows well in a subtropical environment. Outside of this in warm or cold temperate climates it would need to be protected during the colder months. Likes good drainage and adequate moisture.
