Description

Capsicum chinense is species of chilli that is originally from the Amazon Basin, it was misnamed by a Dutch physician who called it Capsicum chinense (coming from China), a mistake which remains unchanged to this day. This is the hottest chilli species in the world, pods can vary from zero to 1 million+ Scoville Units (heat scale).

Chocolate Habanero grows between 0.5 – 1 metre tall and 1 metre wide. Pods change colour from a wrinkled green immature to a rich chocolate colour at maturity. Like other C. chinense, the Chocolate Habanero has a citrus like aroma and extreme heat. Named for its colour and not its taste. Extremely disease and pest resistant, probably due to the pungency of the chillies.

Care and Cultivation of Chocolate Habanero

Chocolate Habanero seeds should be sown just under the surface of a good quality potting mix and keep moist until germination. Sow seeds in spring/summer or autumn in warmer areas. Seeds germinate in 1-2 weeks. Prefers full to part sun and adequate moisture. Perennial in most warmer areas. Treat as an annual in temperate zones. Growing season is approx. 80 – 120 days.

10 seeds per packet

  1. Chesty

I can attest to the pungency of these chilis. Also I can attest to their freshness. I know for a fact that the managers of Herbalistics harvest these straight of their own mother plants. I would buy this again, no doubt about it. Arrived in fine condition (and carefully packaged to prevent the hot juices from spilling out to the posties!)
