Description

Huberantha nitidissima is a member of the Annonaceae family, synonym Polyalthia nitidissima. A medium sized tree to 18m tall. A widespread species in the NT, QLD and southwards to north-eastern NSW., also occurring in New Caledonia and PNG. Altitudinal range in northern Australia from near sea level to 800 m. Usually grows in drier rainforest. A food plant for several native butterfly species. Wood was evidently good for making spears. The flowers are very fragrant, typical of the Annonaceae, making it a great tree to have in the garden.

Care and Cultivation of Huberantha nitidissima

Huberantha nitidissima likes a full sun to part shade position with adequate moisture and regular fertiliser. Copes well with drier conditions.
