Established in 2003, Herbalistics was founded by Darren and Sybille in Billinudgel, Northern NSW, growing out of a passion of propagating and cultivating those unusual and somewhat obscure edible, medicinal and psychoactive plants; the forgotten and generally persecuted species. Run since 2008 by Darren, Herbalistics has refined its edge on developing and propagating new and unusual horticultural additions, with a focus on progressive Australian horticulture, incorporating Australian species and hybrids with exotic medicinal selections.
Darren has a degree in Applied Science, an advanced Diploma of Horticulture and is a current member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH). He is advancing the breeding of many medicinal and edible plants, including Corkwood/Pituri (Duboisia spp.), Australian Limes (Citrus spp.) and Chacruna (Psychotria viridis) and is the breeder of the interspecific Psychotria hybrid ‘Nexus’ (Psychotria carthagenensis x P. viridis) released in 2009.
He is a scientist, gardener, fermenter, forager, plant breeder, bush regenerator and single father to two humans (and many plants).
