Care and Cultivation of Welwitschia mirabilis

Welwitschia mirabilis is not too hard to keep, just treat a bit like a cactus. Give them a nice deep pot with a sharp draining mix, of mostly inorganic materials (pumice, perlite, sand, gravel, etc). Full sun to part shade position. Best to keep under cover if you live in a moist climate. While they are highly adapted to low rainfall areas and to harvesting water from fog for their use, they respond well to water in a cultivated environment and are not a true succulent species.
