Out of stock
Trichocereus pachanoi is a South American cactus species used traditionally for divining purposes. Named after Professor Aberlardo Pachano who travelled with Dr. Rose, the original western collector, in 1918 (Trout, 2005). An upright species to 6 metres tall. Also an excellent grafting stock. Seed collected from Matucana in central Peru. Cacti from this region have a long history of traditional use as healing sacraments.
An exceptional cactus we grew from seed with good variegation.
Care and Cultivation of Trichocereus pachanoi ‘Matucana variegata‘
Keep Trichocereus pachanoi in part-shade until large enough to deal with full-sun, which will depend on the increasing exposure you give the cactus. Once established, Trichocereus species can be watered most of the year in all climates, although they will cease to grow or slow right down over winter in colder areas. Fertilise regularly with fish emulsion/seaweed at half strength over the growing season. Osmocote is also useful.
