Description

A cross between HB01 and Trichocereus cuzcoensis.

Trichocereus HB01 is a Herbalistics selection of Trichocereus peruvianus. Trichocereus peruvianus is a South American cactus species used traditionally for divining purposes. An upright species to 6 metres tall. This clone tends to be relatively short spined, longer spines may develop with age. Fast growing and hardy. Not to be confused with the Medicine Garden clone which is longer spined. Originally cultivated from a cactus found growing in a garden in Gatton, QLD.

Trichocereus cuzcoensis was originally collected in Peru by Dr. Rose and is named after the Peruvian city Cuzco. Up to 6 metres tall. Suspected of being used for sacramental purposes in Peru.

Care and Cultivation of Trichocereus ‘HB01’ x  T. cuzcoensis

Keep Trichocereus in part-shade until large enough to deal with full-sun, which will depend on the increasing exposure you give the cactus. Once established, Trichocereus species can be watered most of the year in all climates, although they will cease to grow or slow right down over winter in colder areas. Fertilise regularly with fish emulsion/seaweed at half strength over the growing season.

5 cacti seedling (approx. 30-60mm tall)
