Toona ciliata – Red Cedar (seed)

Description

The Australian Red Cedar is most well known for its rich, beautiful and highly sought after red timber. However it is a fast growing species with a wide tolerance for climatic conditions. Being deciduous is another advantage, filtering the hot summer heat and allowing the winter sun through into the garden.

Care and Cultivation of Toona ciliata

Sow Toona ciliata seeds just under the surface of a well drained and rich potting mix, the seeds just want to be weighted down so they don’t float off when watered (seriously, you don’t want to bury them too deep!). Keep moist and in part shade until germination in 1-4 weeks. Pot up individually when crowding begins.
