Sutherlandia frutescens is native to southern parts of Africa where it is used as a folk remedy for many ailments, including cancer and HIV/AIDS. Also known as Lessertia frutescens.
Care and Cultivation of Sutherlandia frutescens
Hot water treatment may speed germination of Sutherlandia frutescens (pour just boiled water over the seeds and leave to soak for up to 24 hours or plant straight away). Sutherlandia frutescens seed should be covered with warm water and left to soak overnight before planting in a well drained potting mix in part – full sun position. Germination takes place in 2-3 weeks.
Sutherlandia frutescens likes a full sun position in well drained sandy soil. Drought tolerant once established.
