Reishi Mushroom Spagyric tincture 10ml
Reishi, as it is known in Japan, or Lingzhi in China (Ganoderma lucidum), is a highly regarded mushroom species, used traditionally for longevity, cholesterol, blood pressure, circulation, balanced immune system, allergies, controlling blood sugar, nervous system stabilisation, detoxification, antioxidant and as an anitviral.
Ganoderma lucidum produces a group of triterpenes called ganoderic acids, which have a molecular structure similar to that of steroid hormones. It also contains other compounds often found in fungal materials, including polysaccharides (such as beta-glucan), coumarin, mannitol, and alkaloids. Sterolsisolated from the mushroom include ganoderol, ganoderenic acid, ganoderiol, ganodermanontriol, lucidadiol, and ganodermadiol (from Wikipedia).
To gain the full benefits of the different comping in Reishi mushroom, we have combined an alcoholic and hot water extract of Reishi, as triterpenes are more soluble in alcohol and polysaccharides in hot water. Once combined together the polysaccharides can precipitate and the bottle should be shaken before use each time. We have also employed the ancient use of spagyrics. Spagyric most commonly refers to a plant tincture to which has also been added the ash of the calcined plant (ie. the leftovers are reduced to ash in fire). The original rationale behind these special herbal tinctures seems to have been that an extract using alcohol could not be expected to contain all the medicinal properties from a living plant, and so the ash or mineral component (as a result of the calcination process) of the plant was prepared separately and then added back to ‘augment’ the alcoholic tincture.
