Description

Annual native to the island of Unguja in Zanzibar, Africa. Diminutive, growing to 1 ft, white flowered with a lovely lime/citrus flavour. Makes a great herbal tea. Ocimum canum has a number of uses, being used traditional to manage diabetes and used as a mosquito repellent.

Care and Cultivation of Ocimum canum var. ndimu

Sow Ocimum canum seeds the same as normal basil (just under the surface of a good soil mix, keep moist until germination). Full sun with good drainage and adequate water.
