Description

Flueggea virosa belongs to the family Phyllanthaceae and grows in tropical Africa, the Middle East, tropical Asia, Japan, Australia and Polynesia. It has been used in the treatment of various ailments, such as fever, malaria, sexual dysfunction, pain, diabetes, epilepsy, snakebites, venereal diseases, rheumatism, anti-arrhythmic, sterility, contraception, rashes, diarrhoea, pneumonia, impotence, cough and HIV related illness using different plant parts have been reported. The ripe fruits can be eaten by humans, animals and birds. The root has been studied for anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic effects.

Care and Cultivation of Flueggea virosa

Flueggea virosa likes a full sun position and well-drained soil. Will respond well to regular watering over the warmer months. Drought hardy. Our plants are from grown from Western Australian provenance seed.
