Description

Carissa ovata is a member of the Apocyanaceae family native to vine thickets, subtropical and dry rainforests of NSW and QLD. A small spindly shrub with intricate branching that is a preferred habitat for small birds; up to 4m tall. Fruit is a small 1cm berry containing 1 seed and is edible with a sweet agreeable flavour. White sap when parts broken, typical of Apocyanaceae.

Care and Cultivation of Carissa ovata

A drought tolerant, beautiful and hardy species with edible fruit. Well drained soil and is tolerant of varied conditions.
