Description

Brugmansia cv. Tantra resembles a white form of B. aurea. This Australian cultivar, raised by QLD nurseryman Darren Williams, is extremely free flowering and forms a dome shaped bush about 4m tall with short flowering branches all down the trunks when well grown. It is resistant to broad mite. The beautifully scented flowers are pure white with a waxy texture. It is a seedling of the double-flowered B. ‘Knightii’. Although a few of the flowers are at best slightly double while most are single, it can yield fully double flowered seedlings without another double parent (From the beautiful monograph on Brugmansia, HUANDUJ, by Hay, Gottschalk and Holguin, 2012).

All parts of the plant contain tropane alkaloids and care should be exercised when handling.

Care and Cultivation of Brugmansia cv. Tantra

Tantra prefers a part shade position with lots of water in well drained soil. Fertilise weekly when flowering to keep the flowers abundant. Hardier than many other Brugmansia in SE QLD.

  1. jake

Very impressed with this hybrid, in tasmania this plant has grown almost 20X its size in 2 years and produced over 100 flowers this year that continued to flower for almost 6 months of the year, very impressive growth and very nice flowers that have no smell during the day but are highly scented during the night, only produced 2 doubles that i saw last season but judging by the growth and vigour i expect a few more at least this season.

Strong healthy cuts definitely looking forward to the flowers
