Anadenanthera colubrina is native to Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru (Torres & Repke, 2006). It is found from the equator to 30ºšS latitude (in Australia, that would equate to all of QLD and into NSW mid coast). A mimosa-like tree from 3-30 metres tall, deciduous in cooler areas.

Seeds of Anadenanthera colubrina and Anadenanthera peregrina have been used for centuries as an hallucinogenic snuff by Indians of Argentina and southern Peru.

Care and Cultivation of Anadenanthera colubrina var. cebil

Likes a full sun position and well-drained soil. Will respond well to regular watering over the warmer months. Anadenanthera colubrina is light frost and drought hardy once established due to its water storing tuber. Deciduous.

    Plant growing rapidly, I love that the leaves close up at night like m. hostilis. Looking very healthy.
