Yohimbe leaf/bark (Pausinystalia yohimbe) 2g
A large forest tree up to 30m, native to West and Central Africa (Cameroon to Congo). Bark is harvested from the stem or smaller branches on the tree to provide the pharmaceutical industry with the raw material from which to manufacture.
The bark contains a number of Indole alkaloids, of which Yohimbine is the main compound. Yohimbine is used in urinary incontinence and impotence. People with low blood pressure, diabetes, heart and kidney diseases, or on anti-depressants, benzodiazepins, sympathomimetics and tyramine rich foods should avoid Yohimbe. Recent bioassays have confirmed that the dried leaf is also useful herbal material.
The offered material is for research purposes only and NOT intended for human consumption or application. The plant species from which the material has been harvested has been correctly identified as Pausinystalia yohimbe. No claim is made regarding the chemical make-up of the plant material. It would be ideal and highly appreciated if researchers would let us know the results of their investigations, since more needs to be known about this interesting species.
