Trichocereus peruvianus ‘BK08612.4’ (cactus)
Fat blue-green stems to 6″ or more in diameter. New spines are red to yellow, up to 3″ long. Often growing prostrate or descending. White flowers, sweet fruit. Usually growing with Peperomia galioides, Mutisia sp., and the local Echeveria as companions. Above the town of Matucana, around 8,600′, Lima Dept, Peru.. Seed collected by Ben Kamm on the Sacred Succulents Andean Collection expedition.
Care and Cultivation of Trichocereus peruvianus ‘BK08612.4’
Trichocereus peruvianus ‘BK08612.4’ likes a well drained potting mix, similar to what is used for most plants. Once established, Trichocereus species can be watered most of the year in all climates. Like most cacti, they are also extremely drought tolerant. Fertilise regularly over the warmer months, fish emulsion and seaweed are excellent for these cacti.
