Description
A very pleasant tea or smoking herb. Extracts are used in the popular Mexican liqueur Damiana, which is a substitute for Cointreau. Damiana is one of the most well known aphrodisiacs, though this claim is not supported by clinical research.
It is used traditionally for anxiety, depression, internally for nervous exhaustion, impotence, frigidity, premature ejaculation, prostate complaints, painful menstruation, poor appetite and menopausal symptoms.
Commonly taken as a tea or smoked for its effects. An easy tincture is made by soaking the herb in vodka or 20-40% ethanol.
