Coffea canephora – Robusta Coffee (plant)
$10.95 – $55.00
Coffea canephora is native to western Africa and is the coffee species grown mostly for use in instant coffee blends, due to it having twice as much caffeine as Coffea arabica. Syn. Coffea robusta. It also produces more ‘crema’ for expresso coffee. The flowers are only slighlty scented or scent is absent, unfortunately! The red cherries contain two seeds that must be run through a series of steps before a drinkable product is achieved; namely de-skinning, two de-husking steps and then roasting.
